Dimitis Papadatos releasing his first official album that is filled with obsessions, burst outs and romance. Kraut inflictions, dark vocals, drones & high frequencies transforming to birds. A trip promised through the use of casio keyboards, 8bit machines, mic and a mixer. KU’s voice seems to be echoing from far away while his songs grow to become utterly personal in reference. Atonal intentions, broken storytelling, a note for every instance of the setting sun in this lost city.

Background

KU is the music project of visual and sound artist Dimitris Papadatos. Since 2002 the beginning of his experimentation with sound, he has indulged in numerous territories of music from hard core gabber to space folk and from free form noise to library music and techno. His practice in songwriting has been largely based on improvisational tactics, where often songs are composed on the fly and lyrics written in a free association manner. Through the years he has been a member of various ensembles and has performed alongside various artists and acts such as; Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, improv musicians Grundik Kasyansky and jack Wright  and  local heroes Angelos Kyriou and The Boy. His collaborations include artists from a broad range of contemporary music like Larry Gus, Thorivos, Georgia Sagri, The Erasers and RR Hearse amongst others.Currently he is part of three projects, a noise duo with his wife and longtime collaborator, artist Corinna Triantafyllidis named VIRILIO, a darkhouse duo with ”child prodigy” Mano Plizzi called MT DÜ and a synth-cosmische duo with Baby Guru’s Prins Obi entitled Xloe. He is also a frequent collaborator of the free improv ensemble La Situation Conga. He has composed music for theatre and art performances working for variable projects from small theatre groups to the Athens and Epidaure Festival’s productions. His most noted work was 2011 Homer’s Iliad rhapsody M alongside greek actress Kariofyllia Karambeti, a National Greek Theatre production.
